Anyone that’s interested in seeing a Grand Theft Auto movie shouldn’t hold their breath. It seems that Rockstar can’t make a film out of the game due to a legal settlement.
If you’ve spent some time perusing the bargain bin of Blockbuster, you might know that a film called Grand Theft Auto was made in the seventies by Ron Howard – yes, that Ron Howard.
It was hardly a success, but according to Hollywood Daily it worried Rockstar so much that they entered a legal agreement with rights-owner Fox to ensure it would never make a game based on the movie.

BioShock lead programmer Chris Kline has said at a GDC session in Paris that the game should have been a failure.
“In fact,” he said, “it did fail a lot, over the course of time. A series of big mistakes and corrections and slipped ship dates, but all of these helped make it a good game.”
Kline detailed a number of the mistakes, starting from the initial idea of remaking commercial failure System Shock 2, right through to focusing on making it more exciting inside of working on the ’small’ things like balancing, plasmid use and the script.

Ahead of this weekend’s Call of Duty: World at War reveal via Xbox Live Marketplace, comes a tasty little rumour hinting that the COD4 developer’s next game will be a bit on the science fiction side.
Take it with a pinch of salt for the time being, but an insider from Infinity Ward is reported to have said, “We are currently working on a new sci-fi title, we cannot release any more information as of yet, we may or may not announce it at E3.”

Crikey, is it that time again already? The next annual PES instalment starts teasing us with its screenshots as from today and we have to admit they’ve got us very excited. Not least because the last game (on next-gen consoles at least) was a tad disappointing, leaving us to look elsewhere for our daily lunchtime fix. This time has got to be ‘the one’. Got to be.
However, the press release only states the platforms as PS3, 360, PS2, PC and PSP. Where’s the Nintendo version? Maybe there’s a separate game planned, especially as the content is likely to be quite different from the other platforms’ similar offerings. Considering the previous game’s later and altered release on Wii, it’s certainly likely.

With E3 fast approaching all 360 owners’ eyes are on Epic’s Gears of War 2. And there’s nothing more lead developer Cliff Bleszinksi likes than adding fuel to the fire of hype.
Touching on whether or not you’ll be able to customise any part of your arsenal, he explained, “We’re not really that kind of game. We’re not going to allow you to bling out your gun. The Lancer’s a Lancer, Gus is Gus, and Marcus is Marcus. Those are the identities we’re sticking with.” Fair enough.

Legendary doesn’t waste any time letting you warm up on the typical indistinguishable helmet-wearing marines. The first steps you take into the myth-mashed world have you dodging gigantic griffons and the cars they hurl at your face. Then, before you have a chance to get used to side-stepping two-ton birds with beaks that can snap you in half as if you were a worm in the clutches of a blue jay, they throw a car golem at you.
Just what is a car golem? Well it’s big and made of cars. It also has no trouble flattening out entire skyscrapers. Other than that, you’ll just have to watch the video to see for yourself.

Representatives of The Beatles estate are in talks with both Activision and MTV Games to include the band’s back catalogue in either Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
The deal could be worth several million dollars and could be reached within a matter of weeks, according to a source for the Financial Times.
Back in March, we reported that a top executive at the music publishing company that owns the Lennon-McCartney copyrights said he’d be interested in a dedicated edition of Guitar Hero for the Beatles.
